been six days now. gave up smoking cigarettes and it's all been hell. as it turned out i threw away almost a hundred and fifty dollars worth of cigarettes, nearly sixty packs worth. the thing about it all is it used to be my only friend. when i was alone and smoked a cigarette it felt better. now i'm alone all the time without cigarettes. nothing got better. save but maybe another year added to my health.tired of being alone like this. it's hell.

Next set aside enough time for the project, you should allow at least thirty minutes for each fish in the tank. With five fish you should set aside two and a half hours.Get comfortable, and relax. Life is a slow process and often everyone wants to hit fast forward to reach the good parts, problem is you get there and its gone.If you own fish I hope your spending enough quality time with them. To properly listen to the album "Black Aria II" by Glen Danzig requires twelve stereo speaker systems, one for each track on the album. proper set up involves setting the speakers in a circle and cue each song to start at the same time for proper play back.once this step has been completed set the volume of each song just below the max speaker volume and hit play, then move to the center of the circle and listen to the sounds from each track simultaneously. if necessary repeat and play again. just dubbing all the tracks into one track doesn't offer the same experience as doing it the way described.enjoy your listening experience.

This card game for two or three players goes like this.the cards are worth the following; 2 - 10, the same. jack is worth 11, queen is worth 12, king is worth 13. Aces are worth 1.deal 13 cards per player and count face values of the cards you have in your hand. a perfect hand is worth 42. make groups of cards equal to 42, and set them face up on the table, with the remaining cards in your hand you can draw as many cards as equal 13 in your hand. make groups that sum to 42, the winner is the one with the least number of groups.not a game i would recommend to play while drinking, it's very difficult (impossible) to add cards up in your head.--- C ---

The Year in Review

This year was a year of hope. Hope that good things would come and that things would change. It's also a year of big disappointments and great sadness.

The new year started off rather well, I had a few people in my life that were talking with me, I was going out on a regular basis and making the best of it.

I've stayed out of the Dr.'s office almost the entire year, having physically good health is a blessing. Despite having smoked over seven thousand three hundred cigarettes this year has only been the icing on the cake, I'm down from two packs a day to only one.

I've read at least one book this year, maybe two. Although I haven't written a full story in years, I feel my writing has improved a great deal. I took a grammar course this year and wrote over five hundred thousand words in my journals this year.

I started project after project only to meet with failure. My venture to convert ePub documents for people fell flat this year and I have given up in whole, despite having devoted a great deal of time in writing the code to make it happen.

I worked at finding a writing mentor, but my skills are below average, thus the need for the writing class. Also I moved from having three stories for sale in retail channels to giving them away for free, only now to have removed them in whole.

About june things went to hell, I was having a very rough time of it, seems I lost my only friend(s), only to realize that i'm not wanted or liked by anyone. It took several months to recover, it wasn't until september that things seriously began to take shape for me. It did get better, not by much.

I've spent the last six months alone, without friends or a girl friend to share my life with, I see no hope of this changing.

It was the year of the empty shell and the dead sea of ether. Both of which are descriptive terms that apply to how i'm feeling.

I haven't gotten any tattoo's this year, or piercings either. Maybe next year. I've learned who my friends are, the two doggies that keep me company.

I've learned that there is no excuse for anything. Just because I am unable to fix the impossible doesn't mean I should give up.

It is also the year we lost Steve Jobs, a great loss to our society and culture not to mention the computer industry.

Hopefully this conclude the worst decade of my life. This coming year is a leap year, I hope to leap for the better to a life that is going to be livable.

I have an idea for an upscale sushi bar. let's name it: "the thousand dollar club" the idea is that when you've spent a thousand dollars in a year with them you score a free meal.it shouldn't be too pricy, and focus on repeat business.had sushi for lunch, it was damn good. even had a quail egg shooter and some fried squid. with albacore sashimi, red snapper sashimi, and shrimp!!haven't been able to eat enough shrimp for weeks. it's a real craving of mine. feeling like I need an extra big order of shrimp. oh well.

Long lost are the days of yore, people have forgotten the basics. today soap is dispensed from plastic bottles with pumps in liquid form that never compares to a good bar of soap.the thing about a bar of soap is that when it gets wet it melts, not unless of course your wise enough to do some basic things. first step is to have and own a soap dish. the second thing to do is never run water over the soap directly, instead wet your hands with water and then use the bar of soap until you have enough to wash your hands with, replace the bar of soap in the dish. then rinse the soap off your hands with water.don't forget to conserve water while washing your hands and turn it off when your not using it.

What We've Gained

The home stereo system is dead. We have moved to using music on our computers and fancy speaker systems. The sound quality is just as good and it's one less thing we require to have on a shelf. Since iTunes has been in business 100% of my music is on my computer, iPhone, iPad or Apple TV.

The only place I can still see the need for a stereo system is in an automobile. Even then I'm using my iPhone to play tunes through the auxiliary port in the system. Things have changed in big ways. There is no longer the need to purchase audio cd's and carry a cd player for music. With the available selection on my iPhone it would fill a shopping cart with cd's that would never fit in my backpack. Not to mention having to switch cd's out each time I wanted to play a different band.

With a MP3 player it's simple to carry a wide variety of music and switch between bands whenever I please. I'm no longer a slave to the radio, with the freedom to choose my tunes and play what I want to hear.

I'm glad this change has taken place. I listen to more music now than ever before. I own a wider selection of music than ever before; and the sound waves from my speakers keeps the air alive day and night with sound vibrations. This is a high velocity environment. Just don't get in the way of danzig playing.

I'm always ready to learn something new, intelligent, a no nonsense kind of guy that is really all play. i'm a photography graduate student from a local community collage. i've worked in the printing industry, technology doing Macintosh support and network engineering, web design and marketing.

I've become a writer out of necessity, with one eBook published with major distribution channels. I've spent the last ten years writing poetry, short stories, and full length books.

Max had been awake a whole hour before Alex ever got up, he would have had a cup of coffee but it isn't his style to drink coffee. Since he had been awake he had devoured two terabytes of data from the morning reports. Max is a very special individual, his main job is to go everywhere that Alex goes and make sure Alex has the right information to say at every appointment and meeting all day long. They have a wireless transmitter that max will use to upload the data Alex needs right on the spot and it forms words or pictures in Alex's mind so he can understand it.

Max wasn't unhappy about his job, he liked Alex a lot; he didn't always like the orders Alex's boss would give, yet he figured there was nothing he could do about that. His neural synapses would filter the data and there was always an agenda for the day of what is needed to make or break the deals that were happening almost every fifty two minutes. Alex awoke and walked into the kitchen where Max is sitting patiently, Max didn't bother to take the time to send a good morning message into alex's mind; rather he waited for Alex to send him the daily status message of either, "ah shit" or better yet "oh yeah" Alex must have been tired this morning, Max who was timing his responses, timed him at four point two seconds to send "oh yeah"; Max who cross referenced all good morning responses and calculated the average found that Alex was toying with him once again and everything was most likely ok.

Some mornings are worse than others and in the event of an "ah shit" some meetings are rescheduled for another day depending upon what the problems are. Today looks good. Alex and max woof down their food, and leave the penthouse on the thirteenth floor to go do a days work, honestly as possible. Alex and his team mate Max aren't the only game in town, yet the odds of someone with the capacity that Alex and Max have is very low. The idea behind the team work that they performed was simple, Max knew everything that was needed to be known, Alex was the guy who made the pitch based off max's data. This free's up Alex to perform better when under pressure, though Max doesn't tell him what to say or what order to say it in, rather Max just uploads the right information at the right time.

Max is a dog.

Misfit Card Game: Crazy Twenty One

The cards two through ten are worth their value, face cards are worth ten except aces which can be worth one or eleven.

Shuffle deck a few times real good, deal five cards per player and turn the top card over next to the face down pile.

Each player sets down one card making the value of the stack worth the sum of the cards, taking turns until someone reaches the value of twenty one. write down who won that hand and give one point to that player. Players that put down a card that makes the stack go over twenty-one will lose one point.

If a player does not have a card they can play on their turn, they must draw one card.

The winner is decided based upon who sets down their last card and has the most points.

Make it good enough with a display for each second of the day. Add an alarm function that goes off in "X" number of seconds.

This one is called: "A good Deck"

start by shuffling the deck a few times, lets say ten times. put the cards in your left hand and turn over the top card on the table. lets say it's a five of clubs, from the cards in your left hand count out five cards and set them face down on the table in a separate pile.

now turn over the top card in your left hand, lets say it's a king of diamonds, set the king on top of the five of clubs and count out thirteen cards face down on pile two. again simple repeat this process until you either set the last card down with no cards remaining in your left hand, or lets say you turn over a seven of hearts, but you only have three cards in your left hand. you can admit defeat now or try your luck by counting out the three cards in your left hand to a new pile, pick up the first pile of face down cards and count out four more cards into pile two.

then turn over the top card in your left hand and count out x number of cards until you reach the last card turned over and no cards in your hand.

you win when the last card is turned over and you count out that many cards with no cards left in your hand.

I want a transcript of every thought my brain has every had. besides the fact it would be kind of cool, i have one very specific reason for wanting this. i'm not that forgetful, i can remember a lot. what i want to remember is a poem i wrote some four years ago that was accidentally clobbered with another file. i want that poem back. in the mean time i will just hope that the transcript comes in time. i sent off for it with a do it yourself kit, that i simply mail back to the company and they do the rest. haha!!

I traveled to the future and this is what happened. They asked me what my first laptop was, I told them it was an apple 5300c with a floppy drive. Then they asked me about my phone, I remarked it has 95% more storage space than my first laptop. They are impressed with the phone.

Then they remarked that there must have been something wrong, as I had a floppy drive and not a solid state drive. They offered to give me a full refund on my life and new life for free. That is a win win situation.

Alex signs his time sheet and logs out of the computer system for the weekend. He walks out into bright sunlight and puts his sunglasses on while unlocking his 3 series BMW from fifty feet away.

The sunglasses he bought in the florida keys while on vacation two years ago, there nice and they cost a handful of dough. Which cash isn't a problem for Alex he's making a hundred and twenty thousand dollars a year programming software that builds ebooks for a major publisher.

He starts the car and hits the freeway at 90km an hour, which is fast enough that people on roller skates won't be catching up to him anytime soon. Traffic is light even for this hour and he gets home in all of ten minutes, he turns into his drive way and parks in the first available spot. His place is nice for a loft in downtown, just over five thousand square feet and it has windows that face south for daylight to come in all day long.

Alex picks up the remote and starts the computer tunes playing at 89% volume.

He sets the alarm on his watch for: "14,400" seconds, which is four hours sleep time for Alex and goes right to REM sleep. Five hours later Alex finds himself at: "The Blue Falcon" a dark place for dark times, his friend Kate is running half an hour late and Alex is starving. He orders a dark beer and looks at his phone for the second time in an hour.

Alex takes a look around and doesn't see a familiar face at the bar, which is good. Kate walks in two minutes later and takes a seat on Alex's left, the bar tender asks, "What will it be?" and Kate takes a look at what Alex is drinking and says, "I'll have a black and tan and a glass of ice water." with that out of the way Kate puts her hand on Alex's back and says, "Sorry about being late, you wouldn't believe the traffic from the valley."

Alex looks Kate in the eyes searching for something in the distance and says, "How hungry are you?" the bar tender puts Kate's drinks down and she says, "Haven't eaten anything since lunch time, how about you?" Alex takes a sip of beer and says, "About the same, should we finish up here and get something to eat soon?"

Kate looks around and thinks for a second, "Sure we need to eat before we go to the club they won't have food or drink after two."

Alex wonders what to say next and thinks of the book he's reading at the moment, "You wouldn't believe the book i'm reading right now, the guy is a genius." Kate asks, "Yeah who's the author?" Alex says, "Thomas a hawk." Kate thinks for a second and says, "Oh yeah i've read his book, what a tragic ending." Alex pipes in and says, "Don't tell me, I want it to be a surprise."

Alex says, "The use of dark energy for fuel is brilliant, too bad we don't have that kind of technology now days..." Kate takes a sip of her ice water and says, "It's very clever, however I think the point is made clearly, we shouldn't play with things we don't understand." Alex knows when to change the subject and asks, "Is this a new dress your sporting tonight?" Kate laughs and says, "Sure is, bought it at 'the playhouse morgue', just hope I don't have to take it back I lost the receipt."

Alex says, "I haven't been there yet, I hear they have the best clothing for 'Goth' people." Kate looks around the room and says, "Your clothing is fine. Besides you have to keep up with good looks."

Alex laughs and says, "I don't plan on giving up my black clothing for anything!" and Kate says, "Not even for some hot 'fem' that's not half as dark?" Alex shakes his head no and smiles, "Just going to have to find someone that likes me for who I am." Kate smiles and says, "Oh I thought you were only joking about being a dark soul?"

Alex thinks of the times he has spent with Kate and how it's not a waste of time to talk with her, he says, "Tell me something, are you happy with your life like it is?" Kate looks down and then smiles a bit and looks up to Alex and says, "I wouldn't be here tonight if I wasn't." and Alex asks a second question, "Really? Where would you be otherwise?"

Kate says, "I would probably be in the bathtub and drunk." Alex frowns and says, "Well i'm glad your here tonight." Kate nods and says, "Me too!"

They finish their drinks and Alex says he's driving for the two of them; which suits Kate just fine. They drive ten blocks to a sushi bar and walk in where the chefs know them by name and what they like to order. 'ken' looks down at them sitting at the bar and says, "Want the usual?" they both smile and say, "Yup!"

The chef prepares a total of sixteen items for each of them and they scarf it down like no tomorrow. "The amber roll is great." Alex says in between bites of squid and blue fin tuna.

Kate nods her head and takes another drink of sake, then casually says, "You want to hear what I did yesterday?" Alex nods and says, sure is it something I wouldn't guess?" and Kate uses the napkin to wipe her mouth off before saying, "I went with amber on a photo shoot, she did great and the pictures came out great." Alex swallows hard and says, "What was the concept?"

Kate smiles and says, "The poisoned peach." then she explains to him how the photographer used five peaches each with a different color of food coloring on it and how it effected the models moods. Alex smiles and says, "Sounds interesting, did you have fun?"

Kate looks up at Alex and says, "I got to see her new tattoo. She got a dolphin on the small of her back." Alex says, "Yeah that's a safe bet when it comes to getting ink done."

Strange Story

Truth:// "Danzig plays a mean tune." I like it that way. From great masters of music come great tunes; I think he gets music better than most. Should even the great Beethoven met with danzig he would have changed his tune.

Being a misfit is a great credit to his name, yet his solo work speaks in ways that perhaps he wasn't able to previously. With dark lyrics that haunt the unweary, it's for the strong of spirit and soul; maybe for those who aren't afraid of a demon or two.

I must admit that because of my upbringing I was denied the sounds that were best until just the last two, three years; but what wondrous years those have been. My soul has been moved by this music, to newer darker roads that few venture down.

Going down to die there isn't anything else out yet better to listen to; except maybe going to bring your world down in fire. Even the instruments seem to speak the music gets better the louder you turn it up.

I'm hooked. It didn't take much, just the tune of devils plaything and no doubt you will agree it's a long way back from hell on a Wicked Night.

Thoughts on Tattoos

I waited a long time to get ink done. Maybe too long? I was thirty four when my first two tattoos went on my skin. Since then I have gotten one more tattoo, now though I'm not sure I want any more. Most of the people I know don't like them, I don't have friends that see me often enough to really make it worth while.

Sometimes I see them and wonder what I was thinking to do such a thing? Other times I'm glad to have them and wouldn't change it for anything. Getting ink done is a big step in life. Maybe it's an important step in life and maybe it's not for everyone!!

This much I do know, I wouldn't be where I am today without them.

My Tunes

Everyone who knows me, knows that I'm really into music. Everything from Rock, Jazz, Punk, Metal, Goth and even classical. The music keeps me going, it keeps the air around me alive with sound vibrations.

The problem is I've been listening to the same play list for a few months now and the music has lost it's magic. It doesn't feel as special as it once did. Feeling like I still hear it, though it doesn't have the same feelings that it once did.

Maybe I just need to turn the volume up a bit? Yeah I think so. People might bitch and moan about it, but what the hell. It's time to turn it up to eleven.

It is not known if any that now live remember life some five thousand years ago before the greek gods all became spirit beings and moved to higher realms within the earth. Those that do remember don’t know how to put such things into words that others can understand.

Operating only upon my intuition these things are but glimpses of memories that I have about the world and have no proof whatsoever one way or another. That being said, there are some things we ought to heed. I know it’s common practice all over the world to smoke cigarettes. However we should keep in mind the following.

The greek gods who now live as spirits in this world warned against even touching the tobacco plant. punishment for smoking it is the billion tears of remorse.

I remember weeping by the stream when the greek gods are restored to their form in the afterworld. The tears never stop, and we all must promise to never smoke cigarettes again. The second punishment is far worse.

Being that i’ve smoked my share of cigarettes some seventy-six thousand eight hundred at a rough estimate. I’m sure my tears will be worth the price. or is it????

Album Review: The Best of Black Tape for a Blue Girl

This thirteen track album has become one of my favorites. Black Tape for a Blue Girl is an ever so Goth band that has been around for a while now. There is Remnants of a Deeper Purity, which I absolutely love from 2004. with a play time of four minutes and two seconds I can listen to it all day long.

The song that seems to best fit my life right now is: "The Lie Which Refuses to Die" it's two minutes and forty-nine seconds of pure truth about what I have been going through with people who treat me badly.

There is a funny track on this album, it's called, "Knock Three Times" about a broken down house and the woman that lives in a coffin. Maybe it's all kind of sad.

Anyways if your into Dark tunes, this album is for you!!

Do you count your steps? Not always, only when going up or down a stairway. I have this whole system for figuring out and keeping it strait. Left foot is odd numbers and right foot is even numbers.

Always take the first step on my left foot. I can keep it strait.

Anyways, those are my ideas on counting steps.

Long Day

Another day down the tubes. spent a long time working on my site, trying to the file upload to work right for my photos. finally gave up and automated it with perl. that done i spent a good deal of time adding titles and descriptions to the images.

i think it looks very nice, it's a bit goth/morbid but that is ok. I will get around to posting the link one of these days.

i didn't talk with anyone today. spent a good deal of time bored despite the fact i was busy, it wasn't the kind of thing that was all that stimulating, it was drudge work.

need to start on my book, though i have not finished building it in my mind. i think i need to work through some plot problems before i move forward.

didn't get outside much today. not sure if it was a nice day or not. i don't even know.

need to write some people. things are going ok. could be better; i've been through worse than this. that's for sure.

Yesterday I got through the day, it wasn't easy. There were people to deal with that have no understanding, I waited on them for many hours with no results.

My project is changing. I'm shifting from working on programming to writing a novel. It's going to be different, I seem to make this shift every year at about these times.

Things are going ok, the isolation and loneliness are still present; maybe it will get better!! I've been through worse times than these.

My novel is starting to form in my mind, I'm working on the format of the chapters and the ways I will introduce characters. The difficult thing for me is to fill space with useful information people are willing to read.

I have three sections of eight chapters and two chapters in the conclusion to write and i'm not sure how to make ends meet. I plan to write forty-five thousand words, so I have my work cut out for me. For sure.

my daily habit

i'm a Starbucks junkie; i get my fix twice a day. it drowns out the loneliness and isolation that i'm going through. i get a cup of coffee with cream but no sugar in the mornings. and an iced coffee with cream and sweetener in the afternoon.

my Starbucks habit makes it easy to be alone like this. when the phone never rings and my in box is empty all day long, i take another sip of coffee and think how lucky i am to be here right now.

my Starbucks habit is zen like, i focus on what i have and leave what i don't have behind.

How i spent the last two weeks:

Been working on a web project for a photographer, using php and mysql to drive the site.

The first week i cut the basic shape and design out for the pages. Then in week two i worked on the php code for making the database calls and displaying the images in web pages.

Right now i'm looking at about five pages for the site not including the admin pages. The tricky part was to design a pagination system that would survive records being deleted from the database and not fail.

I think i have that hammered out. The three main pages are the Gallery View, Slide View, and Thumbnails View. Everything seems to work. One of the cool things on the Thumbnails View is that clicking a thumbnail takes you to that picture in the Gallery.

Style sheets have been a problem as sometimes they don't load until after the page has rendered. Also in a separate problem i actually wrote code that writes the style tags for each photo in the gallery. Kind of cool.

Then the homepage will display a random photo for each time the page loads.

Doesn't sound like much when i put it in those terms; sure feels like a lot.

What i did today!!

Woke up around seven forty-five, smoked my first cigarette and stumbled to the computer to check my email. Which was unusually high for today (fifteen messages), then i checked the bandwidth usage, which i keep an eye on.

Smoked again to wake up, and had a cup of coffee. Worked on a web site i've been on for three weeks, yet to complete. At least the difficult parts are all done (php and mysql), and tested a few things out to see how it's working. Yesterday gave me fits, was an all around bad day.

Had some lunch, which was chicken. Felt bored and worthless for a few hours and sent my dad an email. His response was fairly boring.

Wrote about ten blog posts that will never see the day of light. Felt bored and seriously wishing that i had some friends who would write me.

Spent some time with the doggies. They got bites of chicken too!!

Worked on the idea of posting some video from 2005 to the net. I still don't know about that part. Spent most of the day in isolation and alone i don't think anyone cares.

Fixed some stuff that was broken. Working on that idea about the video...

Wrote in my journals, maybe twenty times already.

Worked on a perl script for my journal software, made it more better. Which is good, i had re-wrote it just before my birthday, but it still needed a few tweaks.

Not planning to go to sleep until late tonight. We have a power outage tomorrow night until monday morning. Not looking forward to that.

Overall it's just another day. Sunset wasn't anything special tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

My creative edge is dull, haven't felt like writing another story because of it.
